The "Pioneers" should receive a FREE Smartphone for being loyal customers; sticking with Public Mobile (Nothing extraordinary like the new iPhones and Samsungs)
@Rambo not sure if you are being sarcastic or real. the $100-$1000's of dollars you have saved aren't enough. PM isn't a provider that ties anything to phones and that is why we get such a great deal. If you are being real what do you think giving phones to pioneers would do to costs of plans? I believe with the Koodo transfer you could get subsidized phones with them but not sure
The plans above shows Telus/Public Mobile still cares their loyal customers by "grandfathered" their plan. i heard Bell/Virgin don't "grandfathered" plan!
@Rambo I am not an accountant almost was but changed paths. If you think that is getting all bent then sorry you took it that way. If I write down the latest and greatest phone on my christmas list my Mommy and daddy don't get it for me as I don't even do that for my own kids. I am sorry if yours don't for you either but I understand how over priced phones are new. I realized a long time ago it was better to buy phones outright and unlocked then shop for your plan. The phone I have now was Originally $950 I found it online used for $250 at only 3 months old.
As you are a Pioneer customer I thought you would have known the business model of PM. I am new here and don't really know the pre Telus history of PM. But I did know when I switched to PM it was a BYOD no frills provider. I their reward structure and loyalty they provide here is unmatched by any other provider out there with Autopay reward, community rewards, and referral rewards. Then after a year you are saving an additional $1 per month up to 5 years $5 a month as loyalty. It doesn't look like much but when you are looking at them all adding up the great pricing we get here can't be matched. Now these rewards might not be available to Pioneer customers so maybe look into the new plans and see if any of them will work better for you.
you shouldnt get a free phone just for staying with them for years. There are many phones that are affordable now (BLU, Moto, Xaomi, ect) Use your money and buy yourself a phone. Orchard sells refurbished phones. You dont need an expensive $1000 phone to do simple things. Thats what these China and Budget phones are for. Low end specs that do the basic things. My Nexus phone was $350 UNLOCKED AND NEW. Most of the big names (Rogers, Bell) Do Free upgrades every x amount of years, but then you renew your plan. Just buy a cheap budget phone
@Rambo Whether @ShawnC13 is the accountant or not it doesnt matter, while i believe people who have been with a company long term should derive some sort of benefit, you are already getting that benefit. Through loyalty rewards and a g randfathered plan.
However just because you have been with PM for a long time, doesnt mean myself or other new users should subsidize any type of phone for users who have been here longer, its just absurd to think that.
I'm also newish to PM, and agree, it's great for those of us on reward eligible plans, however, grandfathered pioneer plans are not eligible for any rewards, other than the already low, low, low price they are paying for their services.
Yes, switching to a now available rewards eligible plan, the can immediately jump into the loyality rewards based on subscribtion time, and also autopay and friend referals.
