The "Pioneers" should receive a FREE Smartphone for being loyal customers; sticking with Public Mobile (Nothing extraordinary like the new iPhones and Samsungs)

@Rambo - sure. But if you're willing to go on a 90-day plan you can actually save a significant chunk over what you're currently paying. And even more so over what you'll be paying once the price goes up. But if you don't want to go on a 90-day plan, then obviously you're better off staying on your current plan. The only reason I even mentioned that at all, is because you brought up 90-day plans at $120.

@Rambo the lower data plans are less of a discount but they are a discount nontheless

You have the old $40 Canada plan with 1GB data with $3 price increase = $43

As has been mentioned, current inmarket pricing is 90 days $126 with 3GB data (although I would suggest upgrading to $135 for 6GB is a far better value but I digress)

The 90 day plan is better because it offers more flexibility in data use (your current plan, once you hit 1GB is over; the 90 day plans can actually exceed if needed)

$126 / 3 = $42

So right off the bat, even if you do nothing at all, the new plan is $1 per month cheaper than old plan, plus has better data use

Now as mentioned, you can qualify for rewards (autopay, loyalty & community are easiest)

Less price, more rewards, better data use

Oh and this has been mentioned many times but just in case....

If you prefer to pay monthly or buy vouchers go ahead

You can manually top up your account every month, same as you do now

@kav2001c - Rambo actually would be paying $40 a month (at most) because they are on a grandfathered plan, so have to have been with PM for at *least* 2 years.  So they'd be saving a guaranteed $3 a month once the new prices kick in.

@WearySky there is some debate on that

Public official line is Pioneers do not gain loyalty credits

But I have seen cases where they did

Now is it a bug or was that something told in error

@kav2001c really?  I thought I read in a couple places on the forums that pioneers would be eligible for loyalty credits once they switched over to a reward eligible plan.

@WearySky they are. Maybe we discussing two different issues or I misread your first post.

The official word is this:

If you change from an old plan to a new plan, you will start to accumulate loyalty rewards from the date of change

You are not supposed to get retroactive credits for the years you spent on the legacy plan

So in OPs case, next year he would get a $1 credit

In practise there have been some people who switched over, and suddenly saw $2 or $3 credits

Based on terms this is a bug, but I never got anyone to comment officially on this

(I suspect they don't want to promise credits because some accounts are so old they can not do a simple price plan change, eg in my case they created a whole new account for me)

@kav2001c Thanks for wasting space on the thread...I'm not interested in a 90 day plan. Nice try pretending to be a PM salesmanship though.

@WearySky already clarified the 90 day plan with me; along with the break down of price and perks.

Cheers!

@Rambo oh you did tag me though about $120 province wide plan

@WearySky I was only discussing the loyalty rewards with
