I'm checking my VM very rarely and often people complain they leave me messages and I don't get back to them. It would like to see an option to disable / enable voicemail .
@captainpc suggestion: dial into your voicemail, go into greetings (3), manage your extended absence greeting (4), and record one and set it as active. While that you're active greeting, callers will not be able to leave you a message. So maybe mention an alternate way to contact you in your outgoing extended absence greeting, like "Please send me a text message and I will get back to you as soon as possible."
@stonechucker I'm almost certain the extended absence greeting trick I mentioned above prevents people from leaving you new messages. Maybe worth a try?
