As you all may know, I'm new to the community and one thing I noticed when I start to post, there were no 'delete' option. There are times when I posted something in error I would be able to delete them right away and help save some forum space.

I hope before the end of 2016, my idea will become true.

What do others think?

There really isn't any excuse not to have a delete button.  There are times when people post stuff and later realize that they either change their minds about posting or that they repeated what someone else already said.  Right now, the only thing a user can do is edit the post and make it blank.

Really depends on how the forum database is setup.  I know in various databases I work in, deletes are only allowed if another record doesn't reference the one wished to be deleted.  This is to preserve history, and data integrity.

i know it seems like an easy change, but I imagine it isn't.

for the record, I'm not in favour of this idea.

@stonechucker doesn't necessarily have to be a physical delete with cascading concerns; could be a soft/virtual delete by way of a status or flag indicating the post should be skipped during search crawling and page rendering, etc.
