You know, Canadians pay possibly the Highest rates in regards to Data, and it's now becoming apparent that no relief is yet insight.
Unless the CRTC/CCTS can get Tougher, Canadians may find it hard, Perhaps Impossible to have Carrier service.

Telus/PM could lead the way.
What would be considered a Fair Rate to pay?

Add-On Data, that's essentially simple

250MB instead of 200MB

250MB: $5
500MB: $8
750MB: $12
1GB: $16
1.5MB: $25
2GB: $33

Also, my opinion, Keep the 3G Speeds Out of the Add-On, Too much Confusion and anger at 3G to begin with.

We Certainly need relief, Hoping Telus/PM can try to create relief

I feel like no matter what, we will be paying outrageous bills until freedom mobile becomes reliable. There is no doubt that PMs data add ons are expensive, but so are going over for postpaid if you go over by 1GB. Only real way to go around this is to support the compeition (aka freedom) or jump through the hoops and get the Koodo QC plan

Freedom is Not really as Viable.

Not yet

If we had 6-8 Carriers PER Region, perhaps

The other way

The Whole Telecom Industry in Canada has to Collapse completely, and then rebuild anew.

And then ensure a ZERO Big 3 Like Experience.

Perhaps that is what is required.

Painful, But what's alternative?

Wait till Canadians can NO LONGER afford a Cell Plan ever again?

What would Canada's Telecom Industry look like IF Canada adopted a ZERO-Tolerence to Big 3 Like experience?

Should Canada ONLY have Micro to Medium sized Carriers?

I think we're at that point where PPL are getting tired, Worn out, Bankrupt and unable to afford even a Basic Service.

Just my Opinion

Expect Freedom to gradually move up to the oligarchs. Why? Because with suffcient advertising and comparable price/performance a new entrant eventually gets 15% market share. Why would they want to be significantly lower in price long term?

I hope one day we truly have real competition in the telecom industry.

We Absolutely need 8 Players PER Region

ALL Independent

3 Semi-Large

3 Medium

2 Small-Medium

Perhaps what Canada should really do?

The Fed Gov Holds the Infrastructure itself, splits 51/49% between itself and the 3 Semi-Biggest, Feds having 51% Ratio

the Medium sized being 50-75% MVNO, the remaining 25% they have Infrastructures in Strategic Cities

The Smaller Parties having 30-45% MVNO, The rest being having their Own Infrastructure

Perhaps this might foster some interesting new trend, and entice More Healthier Competition

The CRTC and CCTS perhaps needs to be entirely Scrapped, and a NEWER Entity, Combination of the 2, Under a New Name:

I'd call it the Centers for Communications, Broadcast, Complaints, Compliance and Competence Coalition of Canada

Acronym: CBCCCC

Giving an Combined Entity Broader sweeping Powers to Set FULL Parameters, Full-Scale Guidelines, determine what should be allowed and Not, and a time limit on making decisions, like if it takes 1 yr, 1 and a Half, should take 90 Days Tops

Grant an combined entity the authority to Quadruple Fines, Or Dismantle Wholescale, determine the appropriate Size of what entities should be, To ensure that healthy Competition always remains King.

Just saying, Canada really needs to Overhaul the Process

@makkahn28 6 to 8 per region?

That would pretty much bankrupt any industry

The thing I have said since day 1 is Freedom & other new entrants made a huge mistake trying to be national

No other carrier has ever attempted this and been successful anywhere

Brands like Bell & Telus were regional who once large enough signed agreements

Brands like TBayTel & Videotron have been successful by marketing to core regions with limited roaming options

Brands like Fido launched small zoned areas (basically city coverage)

Freedom pretty much bankrupt themselves (twice) and need millions in write downs just to look even remotely interesting to investors

The infrastructure costs + spectrum costs for national are a waste (and even then they still failed since they really only operate in 3 of the 13 provinces)

I wouldn't count Freedom out yet. Shaw right now is only focussing on their current zones and not expanding. Give them a year or two and reception in their zones will be great.

@makkahn28, no government or agency of the government can mandate competition.  We don't live in a totalitarian society, it's a free market.  The best way to promote competition is less regulation, not more. If bandwidth was actually priced based on cost, all our plans would be unlimited use.
