@Michael77 actually, if you look at the overages in the Canadian market place, I'm horrified to tell you it's actually a steal. Most have now gone from $50 / GB to $70 / GB for overages... I think Rogers/Fido was the most recent, but I"m pretty sure at least one of Telus and Bell are also at $70/GB. If they aren't both already, they will be soon (as is so typical in our marketplace, again sadly).
At least with PM being prepaid, it will never be a surprise. You're in control of whether or not you purchase any. Yes, you have to buy a whole chunk of add-on data at a time when you do need it, but at least it never expires until fully utilized. I dunno, as much as I also love to complian about $30/GB--which is a ridiculous amount compared to data that comes in your plan--it's actually "cheap". Also, you can always reach out to the @CS_Agent via private message (use this link) to ask them to renew your plan early. In many cases this can be cheaper than buying the add-ons (depending on your needs and how far you are from your next renewal date). To the best of my knowledge, this isn't an option at most/all other Canadian providers, such as the ones charging $70/GB as noted above.
The moral of the story is that no matter who you're with (there may be the odd exception I'm not aware of), it's almost always cheaper to buy as much data as you expect to need as part of your plan rather than adding on or going into overages. Choose your plan wisely, and adjust as needed.

Does that mean that the addon is independent of your data in your plan?
Say one time I run out in my plan, and have a week to go to renewal for example, on my 90day/12gb plan.
So I buy the 1GB addon, and still have 500mb left for example... Then my plan renews and I have my 12gigs to use... Is the 500mb simply added to the 12gb that I have, or is it kept in a "safe place" until I happen to run out again, as sort of insurance next time I happen to run out?
Also to be considered, while this might not be relevant for you, @MK78, and the average data user: To the best of my knowledge Public Mobile is also the only provider that allows the non-expiring data add-on to be combined with a talk&text only plan. A nice, economic option for us minimalist data users (<100MB/month) who still want the option of having data on the go when needed.
