We all know the idea that buying in bulk is typically cheaper. So why not pay for our plans in bulk? In the US they have vendors like MintSIM that provide their plans in bulk options of 3 month, 6 month, and 12 month increments. With further options regarding how much data you receive per month. Public Mobile already has the option of 3 month (90 day). Why not extend the idea of bulk buying to increase plan savings? 😀

I would buy a one year plan if the right incentive is provided for the loyalty.  I do find the 90 duration stretches the data allotment quite nicely.  For me it's equivalent to a 5 gig monthly plan.  I don't typical go over 3 gigs too much, so on the odd month, I have no concern using 5 gigs.

I think the best way to offer plans/packages is great value upfront (such as the promo plan from Fall 2016) that does not ever expire or have price change.  Less system programming for one, but also offers most competetive price in the market.   If you bought a bulk plan for 6 months or a year, then another carrier has better deal tomorrow, what would you do ?  Ask for a refund ?

It's still a prepaid service. We all know that there are no refunds when paying for the service upfront. If another carrier were to offer a better plan, that is something we would have to live with. (How likely is that though with some of the amazing deals we get at Public Mobile?)  And by being a prepaid service there is also no guarantee that all of our plans pricing remain the same now. At least if you were to purchase a 6 month or 12 month package you are guaranteed for that allotment of time that your plan is paid for and there are no surprises. 🙂

This could work, although it will likely depend on PM's strategy for what they have qualified as their "niche" market (pre-paid, unlimited). That being said, Telus ($100/year) and Rogers ($120/year) already offer annual plans with limited talk and text - no data. If PM were to go beyond their 90-day plans with unlimited service, then they will really have to keep in mind the required up-front "investment" from their customers. This may be a big bite for some on this community.

On the other hand, the current $25 promotion, extended over 6 months would be 6x25=$150. If PM can squeeze that down to ~$120 for a 6-month pre-paid plan, it may be viable. With the current price plan for data, doubling for 6 months will likely be cost prohibitive for this niche. Even with the current $55 promo rate, that would mean dishing out $330 upfront for 6 months. I wouldn't commit to that.

@Vakshwell has hit the main problem directly on the head here.  If you need to leave PM sometime in that year, you're going to lose whatever is left in your plan with zero refund.  You would need some pretty SIGNIFICANT savings to take on that kind of risk.  Essentially what you're asking for here is a 1-year contract, but with plan discounts in place of the usual hardware discounts that most carriers provide on post-paid contracts.  I'm not sure this fits well with PM's model, personally.  I'm already saving a boatload over what I used to pay on my post-paid Telus plan with my current 90 day plan.
