Public Mobile works on following frequencies:

  • For 3G use (UMTS/HSPA): 850MHz/1900MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 1700MHz/2100MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 700 MHz band

To that list, we need to add LTE Band 2 (1900MHz),  LTE Band 5 (850MHz), and LTE Band 7 (2600MHz).  Public Mobile/Telus also uses all of those frequencies for LTE, in addition to the already mentioend LTE Bands 4 and 17.

I'm also considering the Honor 8:

The frequencies listed are the following:

Mobile Frequencies:

GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz

WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 MHz

LTE FDD Band 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 7 / 8 / 12 / 17 / 20

Public Mobile works on following frequencies:

  • For 3G use (UMTS/HSPA): 850MHz/1900MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 1700MHz/2100MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 700 MHz band

Can the Honor 8, model FRD-L04 work??

I looked at a different site than willmyphone work at frequencycheck.com .  Assuming the information on these sites is accurate (which it isn't always), none of the variants have LTE 700MHz.  I'm not sure how much of that frequency that Telus uses, but users might want to consider that.

I don't own this phone but I just did a search for you on www.willmyphonework.net

The FRD-AL00 and FRD-AL10 versions should work fine with PM.

The FRD-DL00 has 3G compatibility but will have limited performance on LTE, so avoid this variant.

It might not get full LTE all the time, it only has Band7-2600MHz, but 3G is fine.
