hi, i had public mobile before and was on auto pay. but now i just switched to rogers. and had the phone number taking with me to rogers. so i kept my number the same. and now i'm just trying to log back into public moblie account to make sure my autopay is switch off. so it won't be charging me on my card again this month. but some how my account had been disable. i couldn't log back in anymore. can someone help? or let me know if everything is switch off in public mobile account automatically after i take my phone number and go with different phone company? i really don't want to be paying for something i'm not using. i'm sure you understand. thank for the help.

Yes, it is a wireless code of conduct not a law. It seems that the cell phone companies are following it but you are correct if they don't, you have to file a complaint with the CCTS. I did have to do that once before the new wireless code and they were very good and solved the problem for me.

@jasond_71To clarify it is not a law, but a code of conduct. The consumer rights are here on CRTC webpage. Basically it means any problems it won't be dealt with courts and its remedies. It is an important distinction. Saying it is the law, is akin to saying you are bringing your butter knife to a knife fight where everyone has a sword. It might make you feel better, until you get there.

It is Canadian law now that the previous cell phone company must cancel the account immediately once a port of number has happened with no extra charges. Unless of course if you received a free cell phone they can charge you for that. This happened a few years ago. Very nice considering a few years ago there would be a one month "penalty" for switching. Since Public Mobile doesn't offer cell phones with plan, whenever you switch it is automatically cancelled.

An account that has been closed cannot be logged into.  When you ported the number out, the account was permanently closed.  The only way to check up on this is to contact Moderator_Team through this link:  https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437
