Has anyone experience "No Service" when travelling to US, the specs of my phone, otherwise in Canada - no issues except starts at 3G for a few minutes before going to LTE:
iphone 5 with iOS 8.4.1
Carrier: Koodo 20.1
Network : Public Mobile

@stonechucker Current, and likely last, version for iPhone 5 is iOS 10; most recent 10.2.

@power-fade did manually selecting AT&T fix the issue?

I also believe depending on the model of iPhone, you may be limited in which iOS you can upgrade to as older models start to lose abilities with newer updates not always available to all that apply the updates.
im no longer on my iPhone, but the same holds true with my iPad... an iOS update may have features that my 3 year old device can't accomdate.

@power-fade PS I'm not an iPhone user, but 8.4.2 sounds quite out of date. It might be time to consider updating once you're back at home? I think it's fairly simple by connecting your phone to a computer with iTunes, and will likely give you a number of newer features and bug fixes.

@power-fade change it from automatic to manually chose AT&T and you should get service. The only think you will be able to do without a US Roaming add-on is receiving incoming text messages. You will not be able to respond or send text messages, make or receive phone calls, nor use any data services (email, instant messaging, web browsing, etc).

no US roaming package purchased, but my son's iphone 6 + is on PM and auto detected a US carrier while mine remained "no service" while we were in US and was set to "Automatic"...is it an IOs problem? cuz Im on ios 8.4.2 and my son's on ios 10.2

@power-fade I think that @WearySky and @Luddite have nailed this. First of all, did you purchase one (or more) US Roaming add-on services? And have you tried manually selecting AT&T instead of leaving carrier detction on automatic?

Silly question, but have you purchased a US roaming plan?

Try searching for carrier network and manually select AT&T or Tmobile.
