I activated my account and cannot make or receive any calls

@ShelleyJ How long has it been since activating? If it has been a while and you have funded your account, you should have the ability to make calls and send texts. 

In that case, you may need to open a ticket with a customer service agent so that they could look into the issue. Here is the link:
