phone not taking incoming calls

My phone is not receiving incoming calls, the top left corner of my phone shows the lines faded out, I can't send texts. What is going on? Why is this happening!? I am a long time customer and I am on a auto pay billing and yet this is happing to me. I need my phone!

My phone was doing the same thing earlier today yet my wife's phone was fine (we are both iwth Public).  Tried turning it off, checking airplane mode.  Found a suggestion to take sim card out and try it in a different slot (if your phone has one) or phone.  We did this, it worked in a different slot in my phone.  We then put it back in the original slot and so far, it's working again.

@DebbieL  it seems like a widespread issue with public mobile. 

Restart your phone. If it doesn't work reset networks.
