Please follow the instructions in the link provided by @will13am on how to port your old TELUS number to Public Mobile.

In order to do so, the account with TELUS needs to be in good standing and still linked to the respective account associated it.  (i.e.  not gone inactive and given to another user)

If you haven't yet activated with Public Mobile, be sure to get a friends or family referral code who are currently with Public Mobile.   It'll save you $10 on 2nd month, and save them too!!!
