I switched from an android to an iPhone 2 days ago and I'm not receiving sms from certain people. It's only SMS, not imessage, and only certain contacts. Theres no issues sending SMS or placing calls to anyone.

@mrslyker

Try: Set up your phone number On your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is on. You might need to wait a moment for it to activate.
  2. Tap Send & Receive. If you see “Use your Apple ID for iMessage,” tap it and sign in with the same Apple ID that you use on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch.
  3. In the "You can receive iMessages" section, make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected.
  4. Go to Settings > FaceTime and make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected in the "You can be reached by FaceTime at" section.

If you figure this out, let us know what the solution is... (and select it too!).  We're curious and always learning here.

It sounds like the most of those "missing" messages don't even reach your phone, but @gpixel or @stevenanto offer good things to try too.  What if you put it into another Android phone - do those "missing" messages get to you, or only on your original phone?  (Try it on wifi!)  🙂

@mrslyker

did you register your number to your Apple ID?

if so, then try removing the number and re-register it

Sign out of every Apple service and device that uses your Apple ID, except the one you're using to change your Apple ID.
Go to Settings > [your name] > Name, Phone Numbers, Email.
Next to Reachable At, tap Edit > Delete.
Tap Continue and follow the instructions.
After you enter the mobile phone number that you want to use as your Apple ID, a verification code is sent to you at that number. Enter the verification code from the text into the fields provided.
Sign back in to all Apple services with your new Apple ID.

yes, quick and easy way is as @BlueB  said, turn off RCS from your old phone, if not, it could take as many as 8 days for Google to stop delivering to your Android.  This is only assuming you stop using the Android phone.  If you use it as a secondary phone on Wifi, it will never stop

What @hTideGnow is referring to, is known as "Rich Communication Services" on Android.  You can switch your SIM back to your old phone to turn this OFF to see if it helps.

See if this works for you...

  1. Open up Messages from Google
  2. Tap the three dots (top right corner)
  3. Open Settings, Chat features
  4. Turn OFF Enable chat features

Then plug your SIM back into your iPhone and try again.

It is possible your friends was sending to you via Chat before.     Since you moved away from Android, the message was still trying to reach you via Chat and hence not able to reach you.

The sender need to change to to SMS.

Or, Google will correct itself after 7 days or so.
