tried activating new service with ESIM through the APP but all failed. IOS updated. not sure what's going on.

check Settings > Cellular, is the Public Mobile esim there? Make sure that is set as Primary and "Turn on this line" is toggled on
Also, you need to make sure the other sim card from the old provider is removed or the esim from the old carrier is disabled (to disable that other one , toggle off Turn on this line)
if that still cannot connect to PM network, you will need to ask PM to sort it out. Since you cannot properly login, you won't be able to open the preferred Chatbot ticket. So, you will need to message them here:
