will leave canada on august 17 , for four to 5 months, how do I stop the service and also can I retain the same numeber when I return to canada

If you want to keep your number, you must keep up with your monthly payment.
You best option is to change your monthly plan to the lowest $15/monthly plan.
The other option will take more work and remove your CC and AutoPay from your account. The problem is if you remember to reactivate your account in 85 days as noted by @Meowor you will lost your number, your account will be closed and you need a new SIM and a new number.

- Remove autopay
- Downgrade your Plan to $15 Plan
- Your account will be suspended after next renewal due to no pay
- Log in around 88th day and manually pay for the next 30 days. That will reactivate your account and make it active again
- On next renewal your account will be suspended again due to no pay.
- Repeat the whole process until you are back
- Another option is to downgrade account to $15 and let it renew ever 30 days, as long as autopay is active. Still log in regularly to confirm autopay worked as expected.
