I have to go to Thailand for over a year, can I still use this phone number from Thailand? How?

further to the above, if you wish to retain your number (if returning back to Canada) and wish to retain Public Mobile service, your best option is to switch to the $15 plan on your next renewal, let it expire and do not renew, then 85 days later pay $15 again and go through that process thrice more and you’ll have saved the number for a year at a cost of about $60.

No, you will not be able to use your Public Mobile service. 

Public Mobile only works in Canada and The US (with a roaming add-on or Can-US plan). You will need to look into a local prepaid sim or a travel eSIM from a company like Airalo or Nomad.
