Will my eSIM, while connected to a local network for data, function in a country where Public Mobile does not provide coverage?

@mni No you would not receive SMS messages on your Public Mobile phone number. You need to make alternative arrangements with your bank, CRA before you go.

SMS messages. My security codes for different accounts (bank accounts CRA etc).
Someone told me that if I purchase an eSim and travel to a country with no public mobile coverage. I connect to internet. Will I be able to receive text messages on my public mobile SIM there?

@mni You'll only receive text messages that work over wifi, you won't receive text messages that rely on your carrier, like SMS. So if it's SMS messages that you are looking for the answer would be no. If it's iMessages then the answer would be yes with reservations. What type of text messages are you concerned about? There are also MMS messages and RCS messages, so it depends on the type.

what you meant by " function in a country where Public Mobile does not provide coverage"?
PM sim card only work in Canada. Will also work in US or Mexico if you have Canada-US-Mexico plan
