Lately when I turn my wifi and data on, I get text messages I already received again, identical duplicates. truly annoying. does anyone know why? how to stop this? the worst part is the odd one doesn't come and only shows with wifi or data, causing missed messages.

hi @Awws
that is problem with RCS
Duplicate RCS messages after turning on Wi-Fi typically occur because the phone attempts to send or receive a message via mobile data (which may be weak), fails, and then successfully resends it as an RCS message once a stronger Wi-Fi connection is established. The system often fails to recognize the first attempt as successful, resulting in the recipient getting the message twice.
Disable "Automatically resend as text (SMS/MMS)": In Google Messages, go to Settings > RCS chats and turn off "Automatically resend as text (SMS/MMS)". This stops the phone from sending a backup SMS when it thinks the RCS message failed.
Toggle Wi-Fi and Data: Turn Wi-Fi off and back on again, or toggle Airplane mode to reset all network connections.
Restart Your Device: A simple reboot can fix stuck processes, including network handoffs.
