hello,
I just checked again, I don't remember my initial details but right now I'm on $30 a month 1GB Hero data -3G 30day plan.
I see on the site where the cheaper options there is:
1. $20/month 1GB 4G canada-wdie
2. $25/month 4GB 4G canada-wide
but when i look at the options to change for the $30 range I see only:
1. $30/month 20GB 4G canada-us
2. $30/month 20GB canada-wide
Questions:
1. I'm obviously not having a good deal now. Why don't I have options for for the $25 and $20 ? If this is possible somehow please let me know
2. Can i just change now or change on renewal to the $30 20GB 4G, at least for the same price I get a better deal? Is there some other hidden fees or catch ?
3. which is better canada-us or canada-wide? does canada-us also means canada-wide ?
many thanks

Thanks @slusagm
where do I find the settings to change from phone to email for the codes ? I'm looking at my profile...I don't see it, please let me know

You can always receive code via email or voicemail. click Didnt Receive Code and the option should be there. For VM, you can call from another phone to access VM to pickup the 2FA code

That's good , I know it shouldn't affect voice and text but just in case it does I cannot even log in to this pulbic mobile forum, it requires 2FA and my phone won't be able to receive the codes for me to log in.

They won't send you SMS or email about the plan change in the change date
The data change won't affect voice, but there were small number of cases that it interrupted there service, but you just need to submit ticket and PM will help quickly

Thanks @slusagm @BKNS27 @Chalupa_Batman
got it. I will go for Canada-US $30/month 20GB for 4G and "Change in renewal"
Last questions:
obviously they have to make some technical changes on their end since its moving from 3G to 4G and expanding the data from 1GB to 4GB. I don’t think this would disrupt my cell service ? Just want to clear any doubts or surprises on any cell service disconnections. And I should receive a message from them “ your service and plan is now <new plan> “? I get charged at the beginning of each month, that's when I guess I can anticipate the change happening. Hoping to hear some of your experiences. its the same price for more and I don't anticipate any other fees?

Yes, don't use CHANGE NOW as PM will charge today and start the new plan, existing cycle will be wasted
08-13-2025 05:06 PM
The main difference if you click on Change NOW, you will be charge for new plan and you have paid for the old plan. Unfortunately it is not prorated so any used data will be forfeited.
If you click on your Change on Renewal. When you old plan expires the new plan will take over.

It basically means if you pay now, you lose everything you already paid for. Best to change at renewal so you don't lose any money you've paid. People only pick NOW if they've run out of data.

Thanks @Chalupa_Batman @slusagm for your quick reply, I guess I should at least get option 1. $30/month 20GB 4G canada-us since that is the lowest I see , too much hassle for me to port out and in. I don't travel to US often or even call US numbers, but maybe that is still handy. Quick question what is the diference between "Change on renewal" and "change now" mean ? I suppose "change on renewal" changes my plan on next billing cycle ?

Don't check the main site for plan. As a PM subscriber, you need to login My Account->Change Subscription to see what plans available for you
All plans now have Canada wide minutes. The Canada US plans are those that include IS roaming, useful if you go US once or twice every year

Hello @Mavenrick
Ya, that plan is REALLY bad.
The weird thing about Public Mobile is it's PREPAID meaning you prepay for plans. It's not post paid but they don't allow you to lower your price point which makes zero sense. It's how they do things. So you can only get plans $30 or more. The only way to get a lower price point is to port out of Public Mobile and port back in, if you want to come back that is.
Canada US plans are pretty nice to have if you travel to the US lots. Means you can use the plan anywhere in Canada and the US. And yes, all plans are Canada Wide.
