I have changed my plan but kept my number and ever since my text messages services disappeared. I have a one plus 3 Android 8.0. I tried APN setting and did not work. Do not nknow what else to do.

Sending regular text message does not need data. Therefore, you don't need data. Therefore, no need to configure APN.
But if you cannot get picture message(i.e. MMS), you need to set up APN to receive MMS message.
Can you send/receive regular message?

Tap on your messenging app, tap the 3 dots top right, and then tap on settings.
Under SMSC Settings, make sure the number set is "16475800172" without quotes.
Additionally, make sure your messaging app has permissions to "SMS".

If a texting issue popped up right after a plan change, there is likelihood that something failed during the change. I assume other plan features work. It might be a good idea to contact the moderator team as suggested so they can look into the situation.

APN does not have any thing todo with text message.
Reboot your phone to see it works or not.
