Add-on should be active shortly after purchase.
Check you overview page for usage line for your purchased add-on.
I have a $15 plan and purchaed a $5 500 minutes add-on. Refer to the following for details.
Data & Add-Ons | Amount Used |
100 Minutes Canada-Wide Talk | 11 / 100 MIN |
250 MB at 3G speed | 24.530 / 250 MB |
500 min Canada-Wide Long Distance | 0 / 500 MIN |
If you do not see the add-on you purchased, you had not purchased your add-on yet.
Is your fund for the add-on still in your account as available fund?
If yes, you need to purchase the add-on using the fund you added to your account earlier.

Yep, should be usable right away if it's on your account then.

@taralum And just in case the add-on hasn't actually been purchased yet, here's a link to a guide on how to do it: How to purchase add-ons

@taralum Purchasing an add-on is a two step process. First you fund your account then you purchase it. Once completed then the add-on appears on the landing page of your selfserve.
If you add-on is there then make sure that the country you are trying to call is included in the list of allowed countries to call.
Included countries: Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela.

Yeah, if it's the US roaming one you should wait until your going to get it, because it lasts exactly 10 days from purchase!

right away, you might need to restrat your handset!

@taralum Maybe tell us which add-on you're referring to..... am thinkin' that if it's one of the U.S. add-ons, it MIGHT be an issue with needing to enable roaming, manually picking one of the available U.S. networks, and/or resetting the phone.....
