Why does my phone use 3G Data when I turn on LTE on my Iphone 5?

Hey guys,

Everytime i turn on my cellular data on my Iphone 5 and have LTE on, it loses service and reverts to 3G. LTE doesn't work for some reason but 3G data works just fine. Why is this? How can i get LTE working on my iphone 5? Thanks!

Ok well that is different. So even when you are in an LTE zone you are getting 3G?

I would send call PM and ask as obviously you are an older plan holder and see what they say. *611 should work from your mobile.

Might be an old sim problem.

What phone are you using? It may not be LTE.

Can ways check your APN settings:


Step by Step APN configuration

Step1:

Android

Settings > More / More Networks / Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > New APN setting (or a plus sign)

Windows 8 Step 1 Settings > cellular > Add or Edit internet APN

iPhone

Step 2:

You will need to input the following information:

Name: Public Mobile
APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
Username: Leave blank
Password: Leave blank
Server: Leave blank
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: Leave blank
APN type: Leave blank

Step 3:

Select Save/Done. Select Public Mobile to connect to the Public Mobile network

I've been using public mobile for more than a year and this problem has not solved itself. I never bothered posting about it here because it was never an issue but recently, I've wanted to use the LTE and seeing how it still reverts to 3G , I would like to get it solved. Everytime I turn on LTE for voice and data, it always shows 3G at the top left of the screen.

This has been talked about before with iPhone/Android/BB users. Just give it a day or so and see what happens. If your APN settings are correct which it sounds like they are if you are getting data just wait and see if it will set itself right as the few people who have complained about have always come back and said it magically started working.
