What happens to phone number if no payment is made?

Hello everyone,

I will be leaving the country for a few months and would like to know if my phone number will stay with me if I stop making payments? My current plan is every 3 months, and I want to suspend my account until I return. However I am not sure if my phone number will be cancelled if I do not make a payment within x amount of time.

Again @JDT, this is still incorrect.

It must be a selection of a base plan - voice, sms, or data.

Sorry for the confusion, I should have said that to begin with.

I stand corrected.  I guess the cheapest would then be $20 by selecting either 250MB data OR global text.

And good point about losing any promotional plan that you may currently have.

@JDT, this is incorrect.

There is no $10 plan.  Any plan must have at least 1 choice of voice, sms, or data.  The $10 is only for the root of the 30 day plan.

Also note, changing to a lower valued plan to save the phone number for longer, risks losing the current plan, if in-market plans chandge before reativation.

If you will be gone for more than 3 months, then I think what you can do is wait until ~85 days or so, then sign up for the 30 day plan with no talk/text/data, which will cost you $10.  That would effectively extend your account by a further 120 days (30 days that you pay for, then 90 days from the expiry of that plan).

Understood, thanks!

Just remmber to disable autopay. and not go over the 90 days.  I
would renew 3 days before the 90 day period incase you run into any issues

That is totally understandable, I am on the same page with you.

It is fine. I trust you guys. It's just that my phone's been with me for over 10 years so it's pretty important for me to be able to keep it.

@poke53, if you want something official to bring you comfort over, you will need to message the Moderators and they will confirm for you.

Got it thanks!

@poke53, this is asked over and over again.  What @ShawnC13 has mentioned is correct.  Many of us have been here over a year, and the answer never changes.

@poke53, I have not seen a specific page.  Just going off of comments from MODS and others here. You can use the search feature here and find many threads with the same answer but if that isn't good enough you can private message a MOD and ask them.  Or if @Shazia_K is around do you have an "official answer" for this member

Can you please pinpoint me to the specific web page? Since you're not a mod, I need a guaranteed confirmation if it's possible. Thanks.

@poke53, once your current plan expires it will go to a suspended state and can remain like that for 90 days where your plan and numbera re still saved for you.  If it goes over that time the plan and number are lost.  If youa re going for more then 3 months I would suggest letting go suspended until about 85 days then renew that way you can keep your plan and number for when you return.
