Unexplained Data Usage

My usage history shows daily, unexplained data use during early morning hours - this is particularly weird because 1- it occurs while I’m asleep and 2, the phone is connected to wifi.

Today while out of the house, stuck in pouring rain, I needed to use data to order an Uber only to be notified my data allocation was used up for the current billing cycle.
Public Mobile, as service provider, is the only connection capable of forcing cellular data activation while the device is connected to wifi.

What gives?

Someone pointed out that data usage is charged in batch, not real-time.
Having acknowledged that, I can tell you, I kept data disabled on my phone for the entire cycle and at the halfway point my “Usage Overview” indicated 150mb data used - the “Usage Breakdown” screen indicated none used.
I DMd the admin, didn’t get a response but the “Overview” was corrected.
Now I simply keep cellular data disabled unless I get jammed, which hasn’t happened for the 2-3 complete cycles - lots of wifi around.
So the issue is identified but self-resolved.

Did you ever figure this out?  My data slowly disappeared to day - over 70gb when I wasn’t using it , I was at work — I kept getting notifications that it was going down today and now it is gone but nothing changed in my usage or my phone settings

PM does not update the data usage constantly.  In fact, it only update it twice a day.

So, any entry you see is just a total usage between that timestamp and the timestamp of the previous entry.  The early morning usage  you see on the Usage log does not mean it was used in the morning but a total usage for the last 12 hours.

Once your regular plan data is maxed out...your data just stops working until next renewal. If you regularly need more data, may I suggest you consider upgrading to a plan with...more data.
