USA Roaming

JDMc1

I paid for a talk, text and data plan for the USA and I used one day all the merger data 250mg at which point they cut off my phone and text options. This left me out of the country in a difficult situation.  I was finally able to log onto the Public page and after 6 hours and several attempts to refill my data, get support a new more expensive option was my only choice. I want to know how to be reimbursed for th 9 days of roaming talk and text I was not able to use the to their changes in services.

When was the actual purchase date of the US add on?

Was it just a day or so ago or was it 10+ days ago?

Are you using an iPhone with iMessage? You must have SMS enabled on your iPhone in order to use the texting features of your Roaming plan. Incoming pm SMS can be recieved without a US roaming add on. Whereas iMessage (along with RCS/Chat) requires and uses data to be sent/recieved MMS while in Canada only requires mobile data to be enabled (the data used is sent thru a separate server) but in the US on pm's roaming partner T-Mobile MMS both requires and uses mobile data.

As far as voice calls did you have your network mode set to 4G LTE only? Or did you have it set to the autoconnect option (4G LTE/3G/2G)? Or maybe 5G/4G LTE/3G? With no 2G option? Since the decommissioning of the 3G networks in the US earlier this year and until pm enables VoLTE calling for its customers all voice calls when roaming in the US on T-Mobile will drop down to the 2G network (where available) when making/recieving a call.

If you prefer to use the built in features of Apple products that require data in future you would be better off just using US Roaming data add ons and download a voip provider app like textnow to use for voice calls while on wifi or mobile data until such time (2023?!!) that VoLTE is implemented for pm customers. Have a read of this post for more info on US Roaming add ons but note that AT&T no longer appears to be a roaming partner for pm but no official announcement has been made by pm in that regard.

You can contact customer support for a partial credit on the voice calling feature of your bundle but the text portion along with data likely worked as it should? There's a link for contacting them at the end of above post.

So, all of your service cut off as soon as the data was used up ? Like you couldn't text someone due to no data ? 🤔

Just curious on what you mean... Curious on the follow up too
