US top up plan

On Sep 21 2024, I purchased USA top up plan but my phone did not work in USA.

@rajpatel, no, you do not need to buy data as well to have talk and text work. But if your phone is not on the PM white list for VoLTE devices then you likely would not have talk/voice work but at a minimum you should have been able to send and receive text messages with the US talk and text add-on. With a non-VoLTE support phone you would need to manually connect to T-Mobile 2G network for voice which is getting harder to find in the U.S. but not impossible

Samsung A15 is not on the PM's VoLTE whitelist, you can try to change the network mode to 2G and connect only to T-Mobile and hope if t works

if not, you can ask PM for refund.

For the calls, there is workaround.  You can download and use voip app like Textnow to make calls using wifi

Is it possible you purchased a Long Distance plan to call to the USA *from Canada,* not a Roaming US plan to call *while in the US*?

US talk, you have to tell us what phone you have. 

depends on the phone, some phones need to use T-Mobile 2G network to get connected with calls.  But the network is old and it is hard to get the network

but if you have an iPhone or other VoLTE whitelisted phone by PM, you can use the VoLTE to make calls

I purchased USA talk and test only. Do I have to purchase data also for phone to work in USA.

Roaming was turned ON.

make sure you have roaming mobile data enabled on your phone

and make sure you see the phone connected to T-Mobile or AT&T or Verizon.  Change network mode to 4G or LTE for easier connection.  For the network , you can also try to connect each of them manually and one of them would work

what phone do you have? i think you need to manually connect to AT&T or T-Mobile or Verizon to make it work.  Go to Connection screen, change automatic to manual and try all 3 networks, it should work

Did you have turn on roaming while in the US? It needs to be on to work.
