We are planning a trip to the US in May. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the PM texting add-on? Since texting operates on the voice network, will the recent turning down certain of 3G/HSPA networks affect texting as well?
Thanks in advance for your knowledge!

If PM doesn't make changes due to the 3G situation in US, it may be an add-on they have to take off altogether

HI @Munday It won't affect text because SMS can go through both LTE and 3G network
Only voice will be affected if you selected AT&T and 3G already shut down in the area. I believe T-Mobile has better 3G coverage now but they will turn off 3G soon as well

According to a fellow user (i believe it was @hTideGnow), they had seamless coverage while travelling in the US.

Most likely it will depend on service area.
Here are US roaming text/talk packages. Buying add-on is 2 step process.
US roaming Talk cannot be stacked. Next one has to be purchased after initial expire but you have to wait 24 hours. Or agent might be able to add it right away if you contact them.
Be aware that US add-on start immediately as you purchase them and are valid for the next 240 hours (10 days).
Make sure data roaming is enabled in your phone settings.
When you are in US, try to connect to AT&T or T-mobile. One could be better than the other so, if one doesn't work well, try the other one.
US Roaming for 10 day packages
Unlimited U.S. Talk, Text and 250MB Data Bundle = $20
Unlimited U.S. Talk and Text Bundle = $15
Unlimited U.S. Talk Only = $8
Unlimited U.S. Text Only = $8

@Munday Nothing has been mentioned as of yet by Public Mobile on how their USA plans will be affected due to the USA turning off 3g.
Due note any USA addon purchased starts immediately so wait till last minute before buying.
As an alternative. You can consider downloading TEXTNOW APP. You get another Canadian number in your area and you can call / text Canada & USA numbers for FREE over WiFi or if you buy roaming data or a USA provider data plan. Also has caller ID and voicemail when not online.
The good thing about Textnow is other people don't need the app. Just your textblnow number to reach you.

Texting works on both 4G and 3G here. I can't say for certain if that's the same with the roaming agreements.
You can receive texts in the US without an add-on too by the way.
I suggest using T-Mobile only. AT&T is currently in the process of shutting down 3G so reception may be spotty or non-existent.
