I am relocating to US on 31st May 2026 and need to keep this number active to receive one time passwords (OTP) from banks, what's the cheapest plan (monthly/annual etc.) available to keep this number active in US just for receiving text messages.

if you could tell us how long you'll be in US for, maybe we can give some good guidance. You're not likely to find any cheaper plan than the one you have now...unless you start a new account with a new sim and a different email address...oh... and a different cell number too. You can't shift Public Mobile cell numbers to different Public Mobile accounts unfortunately.

You can port your number over to TextNow. They now offer eSIM and SIM while you are in the USA. There is extra fee for receiving 2FA code from your bank.

They utilize T-Mobile towers. Funny that TextNow is a Canadian VoIP company but not allowed to operate in Canada due to Canadian Carrier restrictions.

You can shop add-ons. Each add-ons is 15-30 days starting at $15.

If your moving for a long time, you need to check what plans are available in your account that you can switch to. Keep in mind that you probably won't see your existing plan available again if you switch temporarily.
