US Roaming Characterization - Without Add-Ons (Pre-Sales Question)

mike613
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

I am considering switching from my current provider *****s.  I have been looking for clarification on a few things.  Other chains, related to US roaming, has answered some of my questions.

I am looking at setting up with the auto payment option for 90-day plan cycles.  I am looking at Canada wide calling, global texting, and either 3+3GB or 6+6GB data plan.

When I travel to the US, it is usually for a day or two.  I would like to better understand/characterize the behavior of my phone on Public Mobile without add-on options for the US.

While in the US with "auto payment", without US add-ons:

1.  With "auto payment", would or could "pay as you go" (even if it is a bit pricy) for calls on a per minute basis be available?

2.  Will Global texting work - receiving, sending, or both sending and receiving?

3.  Would I receive text notifications for new voice-mail messages?

4.  Would I get any text notifications for "missed" calls?

5.  Would the phone calling cabability for receiving or initiating calls be effectively "dead"?

6.  Would 911 work for an emergency?

7.  Would 611 work to get add-ons put in place?

Thank you,

Mike

@mike613 Please try to ask your question only once.  i just spent time answering it over here: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Plans-Add-Ons/US-Coverage-amp-Roaming-pre-sales-quest... and now I see you've got this duplicate thread.  Anyway, if you're still unclear on anything, please see my reponse over there.

@mike613 if you want to ask a pm employee then you need to send them a private message.

Contact the Moderator_Team by clicking here.

Or you can tag them in the thread but pm is probably the most effective way.

Thank you for your direct and informative answers.

Would you happen to be a moderator or PM employee vs a contributor?

The reason I ask is that (as I understand it) a moderator or PM employee would have the “official” answers. The differences may be experiences, interruption of the FAQs and other posted material, or general opinion.  I am trying to make a good and informed decision on whether to make the jump over to PM.

Thank you,

Mike

Just an interesting side note, that all US roaming add-ons, including calling, will work with a data only plan. Robot Happy Well, at least it did 2 months ago when I was there.

Remember please, this is not true of the Canada add-ons. Robot Sad

Sorry, without a US roaming add-on nothing works. Your phone becomes a wifi only tablet, except for 911 calls. https://www.verywell.com/can-my-old-defunct-cell-phone-still-call-911-1298359
