Hello,
I am trying to port-in a few lines that my family has with Freedom. I first tried to get my mother's number in. Everything looked good (I provided the account name, number, pin, and phone number) on the registration page. Low and behold.... nothing.
The new line does not work. The old line is till active. So obviously the port got stuck. I tried going into the self-serve and porting in the number again, but of-course, the number is not available. Probably frozen in limbo. So I contacted @CS_Agent to resolve my issues.
But what am I here asking? Well, with three more number to port-in, I don't want to be stuck in a queue again. So:
What is the best way to port in numbers from Freedom without getting it stuck?
I am navigating old threads, and there is a slew of information and tips; enter less info, enter more info; open line then port; don't open line, but port immediately; use this browser and not that one.... etc.
Is there a simple, nearly foolproof method of porting in Freedom numbers?
THANKS!!!

I always recommend setting up the account first and once everything is working, callls in/out, text in/out and data if you have it then go to self serve and port. This way you can use the old sim card until the port is complete.
I don't necessarily disagre with you. However, whether or not you port during activation or at a later time doesn't change that you can continue to use your old carrier's sim card until the port is complete. The time to choose to port your phone number does not change that one bit.
When you port is at the time of activation, that still holds true. The old carrier's sim card is always supposed to keep working until a number port is complete to the new carrier. If something strange happens during the porting process, you can still be left without incoming service (even at the old carrier), even if you wait to do the phone number port.
Now, as for doing the port during activation, the reason that this can cause problems would be if the account never gets activated properly, but Public Mobile still somehow manages to send the port request. What then happens is that your number gets ported over to Public even though your service was never activated properly. That error, which does happen, I would say is just as likely whether or not you are poritng in a phone number.
There have been a bunch of cases that I've read about Public Mobile not properly provisioning a phone number even after the old carrier has released the phone number. When that happens, a customer is left without any incoming service, whether it's from porting during activation or after activation.
Public Mobile is never going to give us any pure number about the sucess and/or failure rate of number portability requests. The truth is we're all guessing when it comes to this and when the best time is to do the port. For all we know, porting over using self-serve at a later time may introduce a whole new setting of possilbe number portability glitches.

Thanks!
Did everything as everyone said. And the result: all ports are STUCK.
Even the one that said it was successful did not move over. Plus the new PM lines deactivated.
So.....waiting on moderators!
Help @CS_Agent!!!

@tiandao, the self serve can be glitchy with browser cache which could explain why one worked and the next failed. If you are doing an assembly line of accounts, use incognito mode or clear browser cache in between lines. With Freedom/Wind ports, I find entering the account number with phone number is totally fool proof. Don't include any dashes in the account number entry. Within 30 minutes, the ports will complete.

One other thing is that with PM you must use different emails for each phone number as they use your email for you account login.
EDIT: It may take from 24 - 48 hrs for a reply from the moderators. Make sure you include account number and 4 digit pin when contacting them

Thanks for the tips.
So I set up the accounts with temporary numbers.
Then I tried porting the first one. Screen says success. Yay! But waiting for the service to actually transfer through.
Then onto the second. Fail! #$%^& Now I sent that one to a moderator to fix. Hope they see the message in the morning (and not miss it)
Now I'm afraid to try the last one. They are all on the same account. Maybe it's setting up a red flag on Freedom's side? Dunno. Will try the last one in the morning.
Thanks again.

I just ported from koodo to PM, but all porting should be the same.
1) use only freedom account number and account name (double check name on bill, as i have seen several times the name being spelt wrong). also make sure you use teh primary accont holders name not the users name, in teh case of multiple users on one account
2) enter a alternat number (not being ported)
3) click i am authorised
4) submit.
yes less info is better. as most porting issues come from wrong info entered.
finaly do everything in incognito mode and set up your PM account with a temporary number first then port. this will avoiad and issues with activation
