I want to transfer a TekSavvy landline number with no interruption to the DSL.
In the Public Mobile online activation, one of the questions is "What do you want to do with your TV or Internet associated with this number?"
Is choosing "No change" enough to keep the DSL working?
Do I need to do something else?

I was with Bell and didn't want a landline (I live by myself so no need for the extra expense). When I moved, I ended up having a "Dry loop" put in so I could receive internet through my modem for WiFi. A very small bonus with their prices is that it's the same number I always had and they count the loop as part of the trio package (Satellite,Internet & (Dry Loop number) that counts as a landline. Every nickel counts!

When I was in the industry, what would happen is public mobile would contact teksavy saying that your are transfering your phone to them. Only reason why this is an issue is DSL internet lines need a phone associated with it. By checking you want to keep your internet as it notifies teksavvy that they need to reassign a phone number to your internet account.
Shouldn't cause issues, but if your internet stops just call teksavy and tell them to reassign a number to your dsl line.
I really transferring a landline can take up to 3 business days. Occasionally incoming and outgoing calls transfer at separate time.
I used to tell people who transfer from landline to cell is to try to use your landline occasionally. If you hear dial tone it hasn't transferred yet. If you don't have dial tone and the cell doesnt work, turn the phone off and on again.

"No change" means you don't want to cancel your TV or internet. That's it. It doesn't mean your internet will continue to work after you port your landline over.

Is this Teksavvy number going through the "POTS" service that they were offering before or is is it VOIP? If it's VOIP, porting the number out obviously won't do anything to your DSL internet service. However, I suspect that we're talking about a POTS line here.
The surefire way is probably to have a dry loop installed on another line/on the other wire pair. That way the 2 services won't be linked to to each other at all. Unfortunately, there could be a setup/installation fee, but at least for Ontario, I see that Teksavvy is currently advertising $0 setup fee. You would then have Teksavvy cancel the extra DSL service, but not the phone number (you have to keep the phone number active to port it to Public Mobile).
As for if it's possible to port the phone number out without the DSL being messed around with, that a question best asked to the customer service at Teksavvy. The people over at dslreports.com in the teksavvy forum should be able to help. Teksavvy also has people in the "Direct" forum who provide official Teksavvy customer service.
