If you are saying you now have a PM account....NO.

But if you had left your "previous prepaid number account" open then you could have ported that number to your PM account.

When you stopped paying for your old number then that number would have been returned to the carrier that originally gave it out.

Yes, you can port in another number to Public Mobile.

  • Go to SELF SERVE.
  • MY Profile.
  • Change Number.

IF TELUS Or Koodo (Including Formerly PC Mobile)? - then you need Moderator's assistance:

You will need to first complete your activation with a new number, then reach out to our Moderator team here in order to transfer your existing number to Public Mobile.

@esjliv

As of today, the above information is out-of-date.  Only Koodo prepaid requires a moderator. Postpaid Telus Mobility and Koodo Mobile, as well as Koodo postpaid can be ported in using self serve.

@computergeek541

oooohhhh, what?!

so that change lasted...maybe 2 months? Was there an Announcement I missed?

Ah yes, I see the Help Article updated.

Thanks for letting me know.

Hi @taralhardy Welcome to Public Mobile!

So you chose a new number during activation and now you want to transfer your old number from your previous provider to Public Mobile.  You should contact the Moderator_Team using the link provided by @esjliv here to do this for you.

- Make sure that the previous provider account is active.

- Put back the old provider sim card into your phone, so you can receive texts from your old provider or Public Mobile to verify your transfer or port.

- Continue to use your old provider's sim card until it stops working.  This means that porting is complete and you will be able to receive calls and texts.

I hope this helps

Yes you can, provided the prior account has not been inactive for such a time that the number is no longer associated with the account.

You may wish to contact the prior provider to confirm the number status.

Here is the information article which will help you along:

@taralhardy  what carrier are you porting from?

If it is a prepaid phone, you need to get it unlocked by the previous carrier. It should be free to do.
