- Is the number transfer a straight forward process?
- Are you plans month to month billing, cancel anytime?
- Is there the option to pause the account for a fee and keep the number? I leave the country for up to 6 months at a time and need to keep my number, but dont want to keep paying the monthly fee. Fido has an option for this at $7 per month
Thanks
Since your questions have been pretty much answered, I recommend this to everyone who wishes to join Public Mobile.
First, get yourself a SIM card. Or, if your phone can do eSIM, you can purchase at the time of sign up. You MUST download the app to sign up. With that being said, sign up, get a temporary number. Once the sign up is complete, test everything first. Make sure your calls work, calling and receiving calls. Make sure texting works both ways. And finally, make sure data works. Once you have confirmed that all three work, then you can log into your account and use this link to port over your Fido phone number.
https://myaccount.publicmobile.ca/en/account/profile/transfer-phone-number
Before you make that request to port over, place your Fido SIM card into the phone and reboot. Then complete the port process through the PM website and you will receive a text from Fido requesting permission to port. You will have 90 minutes to say yes. Once you say YES, wait till you see the name Fido at the top of your phone turn to SOS. Once that's done, turn off your phone, insert the PM SIM card or if you have eSIM, remove the Fido SIM card and reboot.
I always recommend this because sometimes there can be challenges and unexpected issues. If issues occur, at least you won't be without a phone to use for a few hours to a few days.

@LindsayWils the only way I can think of is to not pay for 85 days or so and then before the 90 day cutoff pay for 1 month. After that 1 month is up you'd have another 90 without paying. That should work as long as you do it 5 days or so before the 90 day incase you have any trouble then you'd have time to contact support for help!

Thanks for the info everyone, seems like a great community here. The downgrading does sound like the dealbreaker though. I have opened a ticker directly with Public, so will see what they say.
Thanks!

The only way I can think of for you to keep your number and your account would probably be to subscribe to the less expensive plan(15$/month) while you are away so that way you can keep your number and the account remain active 🤷🏻
Only trouble with that plan is...you can't easily downgrade plans any more. If you currently have a plan greater than $15, PM won't let you downgrade to the $15 plan.

- Is the number transfer a straight forward process?...fairly simple !
- Are you plans month to month billing, cancel anytime?...all current plans run for 30 days. You can cancel anytime.
- Is there the option to pause the account for a fee and keep the number? I leave the country for up to 6 months at a time and need to keep my number, but dont want to keep paying the monthly fee. Fido has an option for this at $7 per month...this could be the deal breaker as you once your account is SUSPENDED, you have 89 days grace to re-up...at day 90, your account is deactivated and the number goes back to original provider. You'd lose your Public Mobile account and number.
Thanks

Porting in is easy and most number can be transferred
30 days not monthly and can cancel any time. With the exception of 90 day plans
You can pause for 90 days for free but you must reactivate before your 90 days are up or you lose your number no way to pay to keep it i inactivate
