Started with Public Mobile about a year ago. The 6Gb data plan for 90 bucks wasn't fantastic, but it was the cheapest option at the time.
Then, the new plans destroyed PMs place in the market. It became the pointless choice in the face of other options.
I'm now on 3gb/Month for 15 bucks plan with another carrier with full coverage and fantastic speeds.
It's a major carrier, which I hate, but really? PM priced me out, really obviously.
It almost feels like the parent company sabotaged this entire effort.

To each his own. 🙂
So far I've noticed absolutely no difference with the networks. The move was seemless. I am able to do everything I did before and it feels like I never left the Telus network. I will say though that I did a speed test and Telus' network speed is faster. I don't think that matters since Rogers' speed is fast enough. My first choice was always to stay with the Telus family but unfortunately there is no retention centre.

@Michael77 good to know you found a service that suited your needs. Hope you pop by once in a while.
Was the rogers plan you got the loyalty chatr plan you were offered a while bac, because you were an internet customer? Vs a regularly offered plan? It is an important distinction.

I had the FM promotion plan $38/4 gigs. I ported to Rogers. I now have a $40/4gig plan. Some of my PM friends took the $50/6gig plan. The key is now I am getting Nationwide Calling, Roam Like Home, Wifi Calling and other bells and whisles that PM does not offer. The best thing for me is that I now have a call centre. I like to talk to people over the phone when I have an issue or concern. They even have live chat if that is something you prefer. When you are done you can get a transcript of your conversation e-mailed to you. 🙂 I've only been with Rogers for approximately one day and so far I've noticed absolutely no difference between the two networks. I guess over time I will be able to compare the networks better.

I agree with you too. I ported out today.

I to agree that with the issues pm has and the lack of retail / customer service varariation pm should be significantly less costly than its competitors.
I agree.

@mikowilson, in spite of the woefully inadequate competition, there are hidden gems here and there. As long as we remain faithful to the wallet, we should be able to jump from carrier to carrier without guilt. Brand loyalty has meaning only if it makes financial sense. It's almost pointless trying to figure out why the brands don't compete. The most effective solution to modifying their behavior is to go with the best priced option. Enjoy your new service. BTW, you are over paying still. You should be able to lower your cost by an additional 50%. Google search it; this forum is not really suited for shopping discussions.

I was able to get the 3gb plan for 15 with Fido before, just had to go to non fido store. But no text no voice is not a fair comparison.

And I think you needed to already be Fido post paid account holder to add this as a second account

Any more details? It sounds too good to be true or you mistyped.
