Talking Minutes Don't Add Up

New_Bee

Hi everyone,

I am new to PM and I am puzzled by the usage numbers I have seen. According to PM's record, the "# of minutes used" is 21 this month. But when I added all the phone calls up, incoming and outcoming ones all included, each of which is less than 1 minute long, the total number of calls was fewer than 21.

I did some reading in this community but still feel unclear.

I have 2 questions:

1. Are voicemail calls listed in the usage history? (Some posts I read suggest that these voicemail calls are with numbers ending with either 4001 or 4002. I don't see any number like these in my usage history.)

2. Am I supposed to add up all the minutes of outgoing calls since the first day of this month to get the correct "# of minutes used?"

@gblackma is pretty quick and savvy, deserving of praise. But please don't give him such lofty and magnificent titles, he'll be strutting around for weeks.

@gblackma

Thanks for your help. You are a master of the domain! 🙂

@New_Bee dial 611 from your phone, you will get the date of when your next  payment amount is due. Then go 30 days backward. That should tell you when your last one finished. Thanks.

@gblackma

I see. This means the current cycle for me started on March 31?

@New_Bee  here's an Updated list of voicemail #s and how to find yours https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Discussions/Updated-list-of-Voicemail-Access-Numbers/...

As you can see some end in different numbers to the 2 you mentioned.

@New_Bee  from the first day of your 30 day cycle to The last. Ie March 1st to March 30th. I'm missing 2 minutes.

@gblackma

Does that call belong to the last month? Are we supposed to count from the first day of the month?

@New_Bee 2nd call from bottom 2.23, 3 minutes rounded up.

@gblackma  Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

I posted all the calls that happened with my phone this month. Did you see any call that is longer than 1 minute? How did you come up with 21 minutes?

Did you see any phone call in the record that looks like a voicemail call (ending with a *4001 number)?

@New_Bee  only outgoing calls and voicemail calls are counted. They are done to the nearest minute ie 1.09 is 2 minutes.  Hers an article on limited plans and what counts.  https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/limited-talk-and-text-plans

I count 2

19 minutes if I round up to the nearest minute.

I'm on the same $15 plan as you are. To save more, add the TextNow voip app and use it via Wifi to make / receive / send calls and texts in Canada and to the United States for free. You can also use it as I do to check my voicemail from my own phone without using the minutes from the PM plan. Simply dial your PM phone number - reject the call when it rings (this sends the call to voicemail) - press the * key to allow you to enter your password. - enter - and you are in your voicemail account - Hang up when you are finished. No minutes used

Checking voicemail uses used up minutes.  Talk time is rounded up to the nearest minute.
