Hello,
I’m planning to switch from Virgin to Public Mobile and just reviewed an article on how to do it. However, I’m unsure about the process—should I select a plan and purchase the SIM card before initiating the switch?
Is there anything specific I should do or check before starting?
Thanks!

Here some YouTube videos you show review first before activating your SIM.

Also, don't forget a refferal code to get a 10$ credit on your account! You just input it in as your setting up your activation. It will help offset the price of the Sim card or if you use an esim you'll have 10$ to use later on a future bill!

@Shurik24 you can start the account creating at any time but without a SIM card (or eSIM) you won't be able to complete the account activation. You can either purchase a SIM card in person at Telus/Koodo or Mobile Klinik store near you for $10 plus HST, or you can buy from Amazon for $5 and if you have a Prime account it will be free shipping, typically take 1 to 2 days to arrive. If your phone is eSIM compatible and you want to go that route then you can purchase it whenever you are ready and you can by up and running within an hour or 2 (sometimes longer but not from my experience setting up 6 customers on Public Mobile)

not yet, after the payment, you go to the phone number step, choose bring in your number
then follow the activation till Step 6
still with your old provider sim card in the phone as your old provider will send you a text shortly and you need to reply Yes to approve the port
once you approved, you can wait another hour or two , or until your old provider sim card stops working, then put the PM sim card in the phone and test. Best to reboot the phone with the PM sim card inside and click Reset Network Settings

Thank you. After the payment step, should I have Public mobile sim card to use my phone on Public mobile network?

Just download PM app, create an account and select plan to activate.
After payment step, there is the phone number choosing. Select you will bring in the number and provide PM your phone number and your old provider's account number to initiate the port
and important to remember, your old provider account must still be active for the port to work. They will send you a text to your old provider sim cad and you need to reply Yes within 90 mins
