Hello, please help!

Details of the question

- Person A has the iPhone 15 using physical SIM card and has phone number123

- Person B has the iPhone 17 using eSIM and has phone number789

Please help on how to swap the two phones that in the end result Person A will be using iPhone 17 using phone number123 with the contents from iPhone 15.  And, Person B will be using iPhone 15 using phone number789 with the contents from iPhone 17.

So, can I purchase the eSIM after transferring the data/content from iPhone 15 to iPhone 17?

for my friend’s data/content, I can transfer from his iPhone 12, as it hasn’t been reset.

After all data transferring, on each phone I login to my account on iPhone 17 and purchase the eSIM, my phone number will be updated onto iPhone 17?

Then, login to my friend’s account on iPhone 15 and purchase eSIM and his phone number will be updated onto iPhone 15?

is there anything I need to do on my friend’s phone number using eSIM on iPhone 17 currently?

@Minnie5 honest, you might want to get a friend with some experience to help. Or bring it in an Apple Store for help

@Minnie5  No because that physical SIM card won’t work anymore when he bought eSIM for the iPhone 17 you can’t have two sims with same number in it

adding again @Minnie5  your friend thou when he uses the iPhone 15 and logs into his account in the iPhone 15 if he chooses eSIM it will be free for him at check out

Hi Handy1, in this case, can I just insert my friend’s physical SIM card into iPhone 15 after transferring his data/content from iPhone 17?  If so, what will happen to his phone number using the eSIM?

The simplest way is to purchase eSIM for all the phones (iPhones with SIM will need to switch to eSIM) then logout on the app for that phone then log back in on the account with the number you want for that particular phone.

Each account is linked to that number on eSIM.

@Minnie5  so like I said in my first post to you once you both swap iPhones and you have the iPhone 17 in hand download the public mobile app and log into your account and buy eSIM and you will keep your same phone number and plan . Then your friend downloads app on iphone15 and he logs into his account in the iphone15 he can then choose to buy eSIM or if he has another new never used physical SIM card he can just sim swap the number your friend with iPhone 15 will have choice of physical sim ir eSIM but you with iPhone 17 need to buy eSIM from your account in the iPhone 17

Hi slusagm, my friend used to have iPhone 12 with physical SIM card.  He bought the iPhone 17 that uses eSIM only.  So, he purchased the eSIM through pm app. And, I have iPhone 15 that is using physical SIM card.  He still have the public mobile SIM card from iPhone 12.

My friend (with iPhone 17) says I can have his iPhone 17 and he will have mine (iPhone 15).  I know how to transfer the contents from one phone to another.  But, not clear how the phone number be swapped between the two phones without causing any issues to my friend’s phone number that’s already on iPhone 17 eSIM.

Please let me know the step by step instructions again.  Your help is greatly appreciated!

You: iPhone 15 to iPhone 17

Friend: iPhine 17 to iPhone 14

1. Install PM app on iPhone 15. Login as your friend, 2FA code to login will send to iPhone 17.  Complete the eSIM  installation on iPhone 15 for your friend

2. Still have the physical sim on the iPhone 15.  Install PM app on iPhone 17. 2FA code to login will send to iPhone 15 sim card.  Complete the eSIM purchase in iPhone 17

Hi Handy1,  no.  I want to transfer iPhone 15 to iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 to transfer to iPhone 15.  To swap the two phones.  However, because iPhone 17 is being used by someone.  And, I am using iPhone 15.  So, the other person will be using my iPhone 15 and I will be using the iPhone 17.  The two phones each have their own account.  iPhone 15 is using physical SIM card and iPhone 17 is using eSIM.

Hope I’m not making it more confusing.

@Minnie5  So you want two phones lines on the iPhone 17 ? If so just download pm app on the iPhone and log into the account that belongs to the phone 15 and buy eSIM you can have two esims on iPhone if that’s what your asking

Hi Handy1, currently, the iPhone 17 is already using eSIM with a phone number.  How do I transfer iPhone 15 with the PB provider on to iPhone 17 while iPhone 17 already has a phone number using?

@Minnie5  Since iPhone 17 only uses eSIM be easier to download the public mobile app on each I phone and have the intended user of each phone to log into their accounts and buy eSIM and then they will both keep their same phone numbers and plans
