When I send a text, it’s sent as SMS. I looked in settings and it says verifying number   Does it take awhile to verify

are you using iPhone? Just reboot the phone, it will interrupt the registration .  When the power is powered up, go back to the settings and check.  Or you can also go to Settings, remove the phone number manually and then reboot the phone, and go back to add the number back when the phone is back

It hasn’t been 2 hours yet but will check it in the morning. If it didn’t work, How do I cancel iMessage or RCS registration

sometimes it can take an hour or two.

if you waited over 2 hours.  Cancel the iMessage or RCS registration, reboot phone and reenable it again to re-register
