SIM card not working

New user to Public Mobile.  My Iphone 6 is not picking up the SIM card that I just installed.  I'm a little confused as I had two previous providers.  So the phone should be unlocked.  The SIM card was bought about a year ago but just never installed it.  Would that have anything to do with it?

@Irene43 , is the phone unable to detect the SIM card?  If so try removing and reinserting it.

Sim cards don't expire.  Was the sim card used previously to setup an account ?  Try removing and reinstall the sim.

It doesn't matter how long ago you got the sim card. Is there any error message on the phone's screen such as "SIM not supported"?

@Irene43  The sim card should be fine so that's not the issue. Did you activate your sim card?
