SIM Card Doesn't Work Well

HermesP

My SIM card keeps losing its connection and I have to take it out of the phone and put it back again to get it working. But after a few minutes, I lose signal again. I do not want to have to pay for a new SIM card and/or lose my current phone number. I was wondering what I can do to fix this issue.

Sounds painful. I'd order the new SIM card. **bleep**ty, and any other company i'd expect them to replace it, but i doubt this one will!

Remember when they were free? that was nice.

@HermesP   actually, open a ticket with PM Support, they will do some troubleshooting with you, some messages back and forth.  If they think it's sim card, they might reimburse you the cost.  Just ask.  They did it for others before.

have you tried putting the device in airplane mode instead of taking the sim out everytime? at least until the problem is resolved?

reset network and select network manually to 3G and reboot phone,
not working, send a private message to CS_Agent
to check your account.

If the problem continues with your SIM in another phone try in a different geographical area.  If it still continues when in different areas check for outages as previously suggested.  If no outages I would get a new SIM card.  You can update the new SIM card number for your account using the online portal.  Your current phone number will then work with the new SIM and the old SIM will be de-activated.

Yes, SIM cards can/do fail.  I had to do this with Koodo in the past but the process to swap SIMs is quick and painless.

I would get another SIM card anyways as it's always good to have a backup ready in case of failures.

Reboot your phone first by powering the phone off then back on.

Also there maybe check for any Telus outage in your area:

You could still try it the other way putting it in another phone. You won't lose your number. Can you try setting the phone to 3G or WCDMA or UMTS or HSPA only.

Can you try the sim in another phone? Perhaps your phone is acting up. Are you in a weak cell area?
