Roaming US, MEX

Hi there,

I changed my subscription to the new "Can-US-MEX" plan.

I was just wondering—if I go to the US or Mexico, do I need to adjust my phone's network settings and manually select a local operator, or will it switch automatically when I arrive?

No there are no extra roaming fees. PM is a prepaid service so no surprises.

PM should change the fine print to reflect the new Can/US/Mex plan.

That text is very misleading. You never get charged additional fees for using your phone with Public Mobile, it's entirely a prepaid carrier. If you haven't already paid for a feature then it simply won't work.

@Vitalii you will not pay anything extra for using your phone in Mexico (or the US) as your plan includes roaming in both countries. That could be just generic text that is used for all plans but you can rest assured knowing that you will not have any surprise bills and your service should continue to work. We've had other customers report that they were in Mexico with a similar plan and that it was working well for them

According to this paragraph, if I am in for example in Mexico, do I have to pay for my calls in all cases?

Please, see below 👇

"2Unlimited Canada-wide minutes include calls made and completed within Canada. Roaming applies outside of Canada. Long distance rates apply to calls made from Canada to outside Canada. International picture and text messaging includes text messages that are sent from or received in Canada. Excludes premium and subscription-based messages, and texts sent while roaming outside of Canada."

@Vitalii

Just enable Roaming and it will automatically connect to the partner networks in USA and Mexico. But if you are going to the USA. Your phone need to be on VoLTE (voice over LTE) since 3G has been decommissioned and your phone need to be on the whitelist of phones that will work.

@Vitalii go into your phone's cellular settings and make sure Data Roaming is turned on and you can keep it on as there will never be any surprise or additional charges.

Keep network on automatic but if you find you are having issues you can manually try T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon as they are the partner networks for us. If your phone is not VoLTE approved or enabled you may have issues with voice calls but data and text should work fine. In case of voice call issues, try connecting to T-Mobile and you may need to change the network band to 2G as there is no more 3G service in the US
