I had to purchase a SIM to have a temporary number assigned to it while signing up for a PM plan.
now that I am done signing up, and using an eSIM (which is what my original intent was)
could I re-use the physical SIM i had to buy ? I would like to re-use it for another phone (sign up a diff number for PM, port # etc) or is the SIM "useless" once it's used regardless it was an actual number or temporary number.

The ability to reuse a SIM card depends on the type and carrier of the mobile service.
Some SIM cards can be reused after they are activated, while others can be burned or placed on a temporary hold.
You can reuse an old SIM card if it has been deactivated, but you must find a willing provider who will accept the account data.
Public Mobile (Telus & Koodo) do not.

The SIM card can never be used it again. This isn't related to the phone number, but rather about company plicy not allowing re-use of SIM cards.

Once you activated the SIM, it is a one time use. Your only option is changing your number.
