My service stopped for a few months due to payment issues. I am now trying to reinstate my service with my same Public Mobile account, but after updating my payment information I am asked to choose a new number. Is there any way to find out if my phone number (that I've had for years) is still available and continue using it?

Yes, you will need to contact Fido to open a plan with them and if the number is available now or in April.
Enter your number to confirm it is a Fido number:

Great, that's already good news.
I originally got the number from Fido. If I've understood correctly, they're the ones who can help me get it back?

If your last payment was September 13. It is more than 90 days. Your number was returned to the carrier you got the number from. It will then paused for another 90 days before it will be open for anyone who wants it so it will be available in mid April.
If the number you picked wasn’t from Telus, Koodo or PM. You need to open an account with them to get it back.
Do you remember the carrier you originally got the number from?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I just tried calling the number and it has not been reassigned. My last payment was on September 13th. And I had the number with Public Mobile until then. I will see if I can get in touch with Customer Support. In the meantime, any tips are much appreciated.

first off...try dialing that number to see if it's been re-assigned yet...if it has been, you won't get it back.
How long is a few months since your account was actually deactivated ?
added...if your old number is from PM, Koodo or Telus, you should contact Customer Support to see if they can get it back for you. Click the orange chat bubble on lower right side of the page to start the process.
If you don't actually have an active account yet, you can use this link to dm Customer Support...
