Re: problems making/receiving calls in Toronto Apr 10 2025?

FYI: I live in Niagara Peninsula, Moto G7 Play, Ver. 10, LTE network. To date I haven't experienced any issues making/receiving calls in my area. Nor have I received any email saying there could be service issues. Maybe you have a 3G, 4G, LTE setting issue? Good luck getting it sorted out and please let us know when/if it is.

I don't recommened that anyone continue to try to use the 3G network for phone calls.  While no definititve shutdown timeframe has been announced, it will happen.  While customers won't want to hear this, but customers not currently using VoLTE should be purchasing a new phone.

That isn't a foolproof way to check.  I do suspect that your phone wasn't acutally using VoLTE as if it were, there would be no reason for that network icon to change friom LTE.  Also, 4G on some devices simply means the same thing as the 3G/HSPA network, while some devices will show 3G when on that same network type but 4G when it is really 3G/HSPA with an active data connection.

Just realized I asked this in an ancient thread. Here it goes again.  I turned off WiFi, turned on Data and made a phone call. The call went through 100% AOK. Does that mean I have nothing to worry about and won't have any issues when Public Mobile enacts the upcoming changes on April 15th. I ask for verification because I read this: "You can test if the phone is VoLTE enabled by turning off wifi, turning on cellular data and making a phone call.  If the phone stays on LTE it is VoLTE enabled, if it drops to 3G it is not." TIA

@Bacsi  You missed the important part of the test - do it again but watch the LTE symbol at the top of the phone in the status bar.  When you make the call does it change to 3G?  If it does your phone does not have VoLTE.  It may still work if the phone has the 3G band that will still work after the change.  What phone do you have?

Hi Community. I don't know if I fully understand all this VoLTE, upcoming changes at PM coming stuff so here's what I'd like to ask in layman's terms. I did this test - "You can test if the phone is VoLTE enabled by turning off wifi, turning on cellular data and making a phone call..."  I did that then made a phone call and it went through fine; phone rang, he picked up, we talked, then hung up. So, does this mean I won't have any issues when the PM change goes in effect for me on April 15th. TIA.
