Re: Recent Telus Data Breach

My credit card was compromised and resulted in a fraudulent online transaction.  Any online transaction requires a card number, expiry date, security code and billing address - so all that information was collected.  The card is now being replaced but what guarantee is there that it will not be compromised again in future.

@nickjesz

Your credit card was compromised but it wasn't because if Telus or Public Mobile, right?

Like all other carriers, and major businesses, they have their own secure way to store credit card info.  I wouldn't worry too much

Telus, like all businesses, will promise to keep it safe.  But like many businesses, there was is no 100% guarantee and data breach will happen

If you are really concerned , you can ask Public Mobile to remove your credit card,  and you can pay by loading voucher monthly yourself

There must be some way for Telus to encrypt credit card information from Public Mobile and prevent access to hackers on their servers.

@nickjesz , I don't know that any service provider can provide assurances that there will be no data breaches on their site.  It comes down to trust that service providers do their level best to ensure security of customer information.

if you have a new credit card, login My Account -> Payment -> Manage Subscription -> Manage Payment Method and update the card there
