Hi,
Thanks for the active help.
The screnshot does not represent my APN settings but putting sp.mb.com does make the data work.
I have been testing the last week and now the new problem is that the sim card disconect after about 24 to 36 hours everytime. If i put it out and in, it works again (annoying because i need a pen to do so)
I tried to order a new SIM card (cost me 10$ purolator, can i get that refunded? ) but it still disconnected last night. 😞
May you help me again?
Thanks,

Thanks for the update. ![]()
I did not invent the scotch tape solution and do wonder how/why the first person even considered it. Once the mail is back to normal, maybe get a spare sim? Not too feasible currently while you must pay for shipping that's only reciverable by activating the sim.

The scotch tape thing to keep the sim in place worked! It took a few days to get stabilised but now it didnt disconnect for 3 weeks.
Thanks!!

@skalien "No Sim"? Interesting. Yeah normally that's either an all or nothing thing, it's really odd that it's intermittent. I wonder if @Luddite's suggesting of thickening the SIM card slightly with some tape (or a little paper shiv, perhaps?) might indeed help it if it's losing contact with the pins over time somehow. I did check your model and it appears to be compatible at least for 3G service on the 850/1900MHz HSDPA frequencies. And since it works at least some of the time, that further confirms it should be compatible.

"No sim" is definitely not a good sign; either the sim is defective or the phone cannot see it.
Some additonal ideas:
- try your sim in another unlocked phone, and someone else's sim in your phone
- get a replacement from PM and install it; even without being activated you should see "no service". "no sim" will definitely point to the phone
- try putting a piece of tape on the back of the sim and reinstalling it; some people have reported that the extra pressure makes the sim contact the phone better
I don't think it is a setting problem, especially with the "no sim"message. I'm not sure about Android but I know rebooting my iPhone does not change the network settings, because it remembers them. The network is reset by another menu "Reset Network Settings" which forces the phone to rediscover all network settings including wifi.
It also is a good habit to check for updates to the phone's software; you may not wish to change its operating system but it's best to install any "Carrier Updates" that are available.
Intermittent issues are the worst to problem solve. Keep updating us.
Good luck.

@skalien When service stops working what message do you see at the top of phone: "No SIM", No Network", "Public Mobile"? What do you mean by resetting?
While it may be sim related, it is also possible that your phone is dying. Can you still connect to wifi when the sim "fails"? If so, you could at least have a fallback for calling while things get sorted with an application like that from fongo.com. It provides free calling across Canada from wherever you are connected to wifi.
As far as network settings go, you should pick 3G and not auto. Your phone will only connect to PM's 3G network.

Hi Luddite, thanks for your help
resetting doesnt work, also I cannot access the network controls when the sim card is offline. I can only eject it and put it back 😞

@skalien that's really weird about your APN configurations and how there's duplicates etc. And that it shows Telus--mine only ever shows Public Mobile, despite it really being the Telus network. I don't know the best way to clean up your APNs or I would suggest it. Does anyone else know?
In terms of network mode, can you please list out all the options for us? WCDMA defintely is wrong but so is GSM so I'm hoping you have one that says "LTE" or "3G" or "HSPA" or "HDPA" or "UMTS", or come combination of those.
Pardon if you've already mentioned this, but what make and model is your phone?

Hey @skalien
Since there may be a potential Canada Post strike, we are now using Purolator to deliver SIM cards.
Customers are asked to pay a 10$ shipping fee, which is be fully reimbursed by another offline team once you receive & activate it. Please send me a private message including your phone number and order # 🙂
Also, we use HSPA frequency, no longer GSM or WCDMA. Try to delete the Telus preference and add Public Mobile. If this does not work, I suggest that you reset your device.
**Please include the IMEI of your device (can be found by dialing *#06#) and the model.
Thank you ! 🙂

How do I know if my phone will work on the Public ... ...
suggests to me "auto" is the setting, but for sure not "WCDMA".

Hi @skalien I moved your post to increase its visibility. It's always better to start a new thread than adding to an old one.
Great to see you managed to get data functioning.
That is definitely strange sim behaviour. Let's see what the moderators have to say about that Purolator fee in this situation. @Mary_M?
Next time it happens, try a network reset, amd/or just reboot the phone. Perhaps it is related to the phone and not the sim. What is make/model of your phone?

Also i have 2 "mobile internet" sp.mb.com in the list, i wonder why.
I can choose public mobile as a network operator but the data connection always shows "Telus Ca 01" which makes sence since they own public. is that correct?
I have an option for network mode:
GSM / WCDMA auto, GSM etc. which do i pick?
