Hi, currently having this problem. How long did it take the number to connect after doing the process? I did those steps and am still verifying but can't tell if it's going to work this time or not. Sorry for reviving this but I'm hoping you remember something!

I ended up fixing it by contacting my carrier! I went through with the process of setting up the new phone without a phone number beforehand, and then I believe they transferred an eSIM to the new phone (my old phone had a physical SIM but I think new ones don't have them anymore), and the "Verifying..." on the old one disappeared. Thanks though!

Verification should be pretty quick if things are working properly. Any other phone issues? Is data working? Talk?
Might want to try a network reset of phone (note: this will erase any saved Wifi passwords). If new customer and recently transferred from another mobile company, make sure the old carrier's SIM card is removed or eSIM is deactivated.
