4G vs 5G

I'm more interested in the capacity of the 5G network vs LTE.  When I'm making a call it's usually important, otherwise I'd text. If my call is less likely to disconnect because of 5G's ability to sustain more users I'm more likely to use it.  The question then is just because my phone says 5G is it actually using 5G when my plan is supposed to only be LTE/4G.  (It was the same question when I only had a 3G plan here.)

yes, the advantage is you have one more network to try.  In case LTE network is busy or down, the phone will use 5G

And honest, you don't have to do much, just leave the network mode to Automatic (and on some phone, also set as 5G preferred) , then the phone will look for the best network, usually 5G, and connect or will fall back to the other one if any issue with the first one it tries to connect

So does this mean there is still an advantage to setting your phone to 5G even though you're only subscribed to an LTE plan?

@on2wheels Your plan just determines the speed they throttle you at, not what networks you can connect to. All Public Mobile users can access the 3G, 4G, and 5G networks as available, and with a compatible device. Even those on 3G plans can still use th 5G network, but they'll be throttled at a much slower speed.
