Public + Koodo Relationship

Very strange scenario this time

Its funny because back when I was having an argument with Koodo, the Koodo reps swear up and down systems are not linked somehow but I think I can clearly show that they are

I have an existing Telus phone number

The Telus SIM was placed into a brand new phone 

I cancel the Telus SIM (and pay cancel fee)

I order a new Koodo SIM on the promo plan

I activate the Koodo SIM, and place inside the Telus phone

I get 2 text messages on the Koodo SIM (both rec today)

#1 - Public Mobile TX message about $25 promo credits ???

#2 - Welcome to Koodo

So million dollar question is; how did Public send a TXT message to my Koodo SIM?

I can imagine them doing some cross promotion. Apparently some PM customers are getting invitiations from Koodo to move over. That's cross-promotion.

Maybe the phone number you chose (assuming you chose a new one) was previously a PM phone number, and "porting" to Koodo wasn't completely done? 😉
